Great Product and awesome to derive from! Oh, and Yang, it's Kanji, not Hirigana/Katakana, so the characters mean "Yoko" and "Hama" so yeah, that's why. If it were Hirigana/Katakana, you'd be correct though. (And then it would use "Yo, ko, ha, ma")
